"Indeed, some Democrats are being disingenuous on this issue. They claim to oppose the higher ceilings on hard money on principle when their real motive is to kill the entire bill out of fear that it will hurt Democratic fund-raising. Accordingly, we urge all Democrats who have stood by reform not to let their preferences for a perfect bill become the vehicle for blocking a major step forward in the battle to clean up American elections."
