This item argues for the position Withdrawal was justified on the topic Withdrawal of United States troops from Afghanistan (2020–2021).

If in 20 years, the Afghan military did not learn how to fight, it was not going to learn it in another 20 years. You can train a military, but, as the president said on Monday, you cannot give it the will to fight. Afghan generals and soldiers will be answerable to history. Shame on them: They lost their country to a gang of thugs.
